How are CK dolls made?
With lots of TLC and fun for me! I start with a preformed or handmade body in muslin, cotton blends, or velour. Many of my dolls are fully wired so my Colored Kids will bend and pose for you. Quality fabric dyes, paints, and natural dyes are mixed to create bright custom colors. 

Who makes the clothes and accessories?
I do! I make all the clothes for my 7” and 14” dolls by hand. Clothes for the 18” dolls may be a combination of handmade and cute finds. Clothes may be painted on, handmade, removable or sewn on as part of the doll; all depends on the effect I want. I’m an artist. Hair is fashioned from yarns, strings, synthetic fibers and human hair. Sometimes, all of those things on one little head. I like to hand paint my faces. Green eyes, brown eyes, black and crazy blues, but sometimes big wiggly eyes that move just make the statement. Now shoes! Some are handcrafted by me, but most are not. I like variety, so I search for shoes that compliment my dolls. And yes! I make the little jewelry, totes and purses. 

How long will it take to make my doll?
Each doll is a little different! From start to finish, each doll takes me about three to five days. Dyes and paints are mixed and must dry, and clothes and accessories are made to fit. I like to take time to examine and critique my work. Only my best goes out to you. 

Then why does delivery take two to three weeks?
Most often it will not. As an artist I want you receive my very best work. I pay attention to every detail. As soon as your doll is ready, it is packaged and sent priority mail ASAP. 

Are CK dolls toys or a collectibles?
I do not recommend my dolls for children under age 7 years. Many dolls have small or removable parts, like jewelry and other accessories. I remember the fun I had as a young girl collecting my “Special Dolls”. Our daughter did the same. She is grown now, and still has every doll we ever bought her. Sadly, I no longer have any of mine. Today, I get to be a kid allover again. CK dolls are special little people with personalities all their own. They make great friends for the kid in all of us. And yes! People love to collect them. They are little works of art. No two are alike.

Can you create something special, just for me? 
Sure I can! Just send an email, call toll free, or use Create a Kid. I will put on my creative hat. You will be contacted ASAP to talk about your idea. I have created dolls as centerpieces; special awards, corporate gifts, birthday and graduation gifts; in school colors, holiday themes; as ornaments, and as teaching aides. You will get a sneak peek by e-mail to see how you like your doll, once approved; you will receive a quote and a firm delivery date. Custom orders that have been viewed and pre- approved cannot be refunded.

Will you ever make my doll again?
No! Each doll is handmade one at a time. They may be similar like brothers and sisters, but are never exactly alike. Your doll will be signed, dated and carry the Colored Kids Logo and trademark. Joyce Ivory and Ivory Productions, LLC, retains all copyrights.

What makes my doll unique and authentic? 
Every doll carries the CK Logo. And, your doll will be signed and dated (except for orders over 50 dolls). Wouldn’t want the artist to get writers cramps? 

What about large orders?
So you need a-lot-a-dolls! Awards, corporate and employee gifts! Each doll may be completely different, or follow a theme. Call or e-mail with your specifications. You will get a sneak peek by e-mail to see how you like your doll, once approved; you will receive a quote and a firm delivery date.

What if I need it in a big hurry?
Call! I will never promise you a deadline I can not meet. There’s nothing worst than a kid coming home late! 
Remember each doll is handmade. 

How much does a doll cost?
Even though each doll is handmade, I want them to be affordable. Colored Kids and Little Folk Dolls start at $14.95 for 7 inch dolls, $24.95 for 14 inch dolls and $29.95 and up for 18 inch dolls and one-of -kinds. Pricing for special orders, wholesale, large orders, and other custom dolls are quoted on request. Create-a-Dolls are $24.95. Accessories priced separate, unless listed as included in our store.
